Collaborations
THE PACHAMAMA ALLIANCE
The Pachamama’s two fold mission is to preserve the Earth’s tropical rainforests by empowering the indigenous people who are its natural custodians and to contribute to the creation of a new global vision of equity and sustainability for all.
We have worked with the Awakening The Dreamer (ATD) initiative, a program of the Pachamama Alliance www.awakeningthedreamer.org since the official launch of Be The Change. We use the powerful and provocative Awakening the Dreamer (ATD) Symposium to activate communities and introduce our program as a way for people to stay engaged in the process of change. We have also edited the full symposium into a one hour presentation in order to accommodate tight schedules. ATD and Be The Change conduct joint weekend training for participants to acquire the skills to present the ATD Symposium and generate Be The Change Action Circles. All of our Board Directors are trained Symposium facilitators.
NORTHWEST EARTH INSTITUTE
The Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI) is recognized as a national leader in the development of innovative programs that empower individuals and organizations to protect the Earth. These programs emphasize individual responsibility, the importance of a supportive community, and the dual need to walk lightly on and to take action for the earth. By reaching out to people in their workplace, home, faith center, neighborhood, and community, NWEI provides easy access to tools for individual and cultural change.
Be The Change is a Sister Affiliate of NWEI. Thanks to their course offerings, Be The Change Action Circles have an excellent range of curriculum materials to choose from. The Be The Change Action Guide is also offered to NWEI members and to the public through the NWEI website.
WHAT’S YOUR TREE?
What's Your Tree was created in 2006 by Julia Butterfly Hill and a team of community organizers, business leaders and educators. What's Your Tree asks the question: What cause is so important to you that you will go outside of your comfort zone to achieve it? What purpose are you willing to use your life to fulfill? Their goal is to create an international network of small groups that heal the world.
Be The Change Vancouver is an official ‘Region’ of the What’s Your Tree program. Our Action Circles have the option to use the What’s Your Tree Curriculum to help them uncover and define their unique purpose and personal focus in this great movement for change. On the flip side, a number of What’s Your Tree groups use the Be The Change Action Guide to deepen their personal practice for change.
GLOBAL ONENESS PROJECT
Since 2006, Global Oneness has been traveling the globe gathering stories from creative and courageous people, and creating an archive of free films showing the diverse ways that “oneness” is expressed in the fields of sustainability, conflict resolution, spirituality, art, economics, indigenous culture, and social justice. Their hope is that through these films, others will be inspired to create solutions to personal and community challenges from their own lived understanding of oneness.
We are delighted to offer the beautiful Global Oneness Project’s (GOP’s) films to our Action Circles. This visual medium truly inspires Action Circle dialogue and really gets our Circles moving. In addition to providing great curriculum materials, GOP sponsored our first annual Great Turning in 2009.
CANADIAN MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH – CENTRE FOR PEACE
The Canadian Memorial United Church offers an open-hearted and open-minded community to explore the meaning of life. They are an inclusive, dogma-free church that supports the radical exploration of Christianity and the personal spiritual journey. Their core purpose is to teach and practice evolutionary Christian spirituality.
Having served on the Be The Change Board of Directors, Rev. Bruce Sanguin of Canadian Memorial has not only been a great supporter of the Be The Change program, but he has also contributed a great deal to the development of its success. He has given workshops on our program across Canada and presented a keynote speech at the The Great Turning 2009. The CMUC church community has participated in many action circles and our program is recommended through their website.
