These one-day workshops are an inspiring response to Climate Change, calling for citizen engagement in a practical and sustainable program called Be the Change. Facilitators trained by the Pachamama Alliance (http://www.pachamama.org/) lead this interactive workshop with engaging video clips from social change leaders such as Desmond Tutu, Brian Swimme, Matthew Fox, Julia Butterfly Hill, Paul Hawken, Lynn Twist and Van Jones. They call us to take a stand for an environmentally sustainable, personally meaningful and socially just human presence on this planet. In community we confront the facts of where we are, identify the assumptions that led us here and recognize our profound interconnection. Together we locate ourselves in the inspiring groundswell of committed energy emerging in society and ground our personal commitment in an action plan to Be the Change. Community leaders such as facilitators, public speakers, yoga teachers, business managers, counselors, lawyers, teachers, organization coordinators and spiritual directors will attend this inaugural symposium in order to bring the symposium to their own communities of influence. The symposium inspires participants to support their ongoing commitment by joining a Be the Change Action Circle (described in the Program web-page); bring the symposium to their organization for continued enrollment, and/or train to be a symposium presenter.
"I was so moved by the day that I've been talking it up to everybody I know, having as light a footprint as possible, and reeling with the possibilities of how far it could go."
