Philippe Barois holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (with special focus on mechanics and electricity) from the Universidad Autónoma de Mexico, in Mexico City, in addition to a Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
He recently retired from teaching with forty-two years of experience in the field. He was last posted at Stratford Hall, an International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum school located in Vancouver, B.C., (2006 to 2014). Prior to that, he held a teacher position at Winston Churchill Secondary School, also in Vancouver, and was the Head of its Modern Languages Department for fifteen years.
He has taught French Immersion (Communication & Literature, Science and Mathematics) and IB Diploma French, Spanish, and physics (all at both Standard and Higher Levels). He has also been a Teacher Trainer in languages and physics for IB North America, as well as an IB examiner and examination site inspector.
Philippe Barois’ technical background, teaching credentials, and translation experience in a variety of different specializations  made him an ideal candidate for the job of translating the Be The Change Earth Alliance curriculum materials on global sustainability into French. He is pleased to have a role in making this excellent resource readily available to French Immersion teachers and students.
