Meet Ministry guidelines with 21st Century Approaches to Student Leadership in Sustainability
February 9th at the Vancouver School Board 9 am-11 am
Here’s an opportunity to investigate leading edge curricular and pedagogical tools to engage student inquiry, both in and outside the classroom, on environmental sustainability. Participants will explore the SLS: Student Leadership in Sustainability curriculum materials that fulfill the new Ministry’s guidelines and develop student competency in Critical & Creative Thinking, Communication Skills, and Personal/Social Responsibility.
These modular materials enable student inquiry into global sustainability issues in a wide variety of courses including: Science, Socials, Geography, Foods, Family, Planning, Leadership, Social Justice, English, and was used in over 30 BC schools in 2014 and 2015.
SLS is available in three formats: Blended, French Immersion and Distance.
11 am- 12 pm: Optional - Chance to do some course planning with others working (considering the new BC Ministry’s Curriculum roll out next fall).
