Introducing the Action Network: Action network map - Be The Change Earth Alliance

Be The Change is launching an exciting new resource to help connect passionate youth and educators across BC!  This site showcases the stories of students and educators and highlights the actions taken by our network of changemakers through an interactive map.

Interested in joining the network? Here’s how!

  1. Register for Student Leadership for Change
    • These free online eco-social learning resources provide curriculum-aligned skills and knowledge to equip students to implement solutions to a range of modern issues.
  2. Book one of our Youth Workshops, such as…
    • Climate Action, Resilience, and Empowerment workshops aim to provide students with an understanding of the causes and effects of climate change while fostering emotional resilience. These free workshops are suitable for all ages and are currently offered in the Thompson-Okanagan region.
    • Water is Life workshops highlight the importance of water, especially within an era of climate change. WIL embraces an action-based approach, with students encouraged to develop sustainable habits throughout and beyond the program duration.
    • Youth Climate Ambassador Project workshops aim to move past simply educating youth on the science of climate change, and instead equip them with resources to take action within their communities. UBC Climate Hub and BTCEA partner to deliver this program.
  3. Share stories of you and your students taking environmental/social justice actions to inspire other educators and connect with like-minded and like-hearted people.

We’re always looking for additional voices to highlight, so if you or a student have something to share, please reach out to [email protected]. These stories can detail your experience with climate education, inspiring ways your students have taken action, or tools you want to share to bring meaningful action into your school!

If you are inspired by one of our stories of change and want more information or to connect with the changemaker please reach out to [email protected] and we can facilitate the connection!

Our Action Network would not be possible without the support and participation of amazing educators such as yourself. As we reflect on all of the work we’ve done this past year, Be The Change would like to thank you for the role you play in inspiring future generations. The Action Network reflects the positive impacts this community is having, check the page out if you would like to see & connect with like-minded individuals across the province.

Warmly,

Anna Tokunaga (she/her)
Executive Directors

I am grateful for the opportunity to live, work, play, and learn on the unceded indigenous territory of
the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh), and sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) peoples.
I do not take this privilege and responsibility lightly.
