Frequently Asked Questions

Is the event weather dependent?

The event will happen rain or shine. Please ensure that all students participating are aware of this and dress appropriately for the weather.

What is the cost of the clean up?

Be The Change Earth Alliance is committed to making the habitat clean ups accessible to all therefore there is no fee to book and participate in our habitat clean up program. However, if you have access to a budget to use as honoraria for our facilitators that would be greatly appreciated.

How many chaperones does the school need to provide?

Be The Change Earth Alliance will provide two facilitators for each habitat clean-up. We need a ratio of 1 chaperone per 10 students excluding the BTCEA facilitators. Ideally these chaperones are school staff but we can potentially arrange for volunteers to help ensure there are enough chaperones.

Where will the clean-up be located?

We offer two options for habitat clean-ups.
1. A shoreline cleanup in which we will provide transportation to and from the shoreline for the participating students and chaperones. There are limited spots available for this option.
2. An urban clean-up located within walking distance of your school either at a park or a local body of water.

What do I need to do to prepare for the clean-up?

Be The Change Earth Alliance will provide all educational materials and supplies. All participants will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver form (those over 18 can sign for themselves) and complete the safety quiz.

Is transportation provided?

If you book a shoreline cleanup transportation will be provided for the students and chaperones. A bus will pick up all participants from the school and will return them to the school once the cleanup is complete. If you book an urban habitat cleanup the location will be within walking distance of your school therefore transportation will not be provided.
