The SLC: Student Leadership for Change Program resources have been created through an iterative process in collaboration with BC teachers since 2009. This means they have been designed to meet both teachers’ and students’ needs, to offer flexibility while also meeting curriculum requirements and core competencies.

Since 2011 our resources have been used by over 11,000 BC teachers, reaching over 35,000 students.

Here is an instruction guide on signing up to SLC

First, register by following this link: here. Once registered, sign in by clicking SLC Login in the top navigation bar of our website.

Choose either English Or French, Our action packs are offered in both English and French. Please keep in mind that some of our material has not yet been translated. If you are a French teacher, please select both English and French to gain access to all the materials. Please fill in the information accurately, this helps us gauge members.

For existing users, please go here, to update your account.

When logging in, you will be asked if you would like to access our material in English or French. 
Choose your choice of language.

If you have selected English, you will be directed to our SLC site

If you have selected French, you will be directed to our LEDD site.


If you wish to use our action packs, in the top menu, select "modules" under "Action Packs By Theme", there, you can choose between all of our different Action Packs which are divided into different topics.
If you wish to use our pre-made units, in the top menu, select “Units”under "Action Packs By Theme", there you can choose between all of our different units.

For information on providing access to students, see the email titled “Important SLC Login Information” which was sent to you when you signed up to SLC. Students have a universal login. All students log in with the same email and password.

To protect student privacy, students DO NOT need to create personal accounts to login and access SLC. Rather, students can login to access the student-version of the SLC or LEDD resources using the following email and passwords: 

SLC resources and workshops are designed to meet the core curriculum requirements for middle school and secondary school-age students. SLC is currently used in a wide range of Socials, Science, Home Economics, Planning, and French courses.  For an overview of specific course connections and curriculum alignment, please log into SLC and visit this page.

The SLC resources offer great flexibility and adaptability to meet specific classroom needs. Teachers have in the past delivered a full module based on the lesson plans, have mixed and matched action packs from different modules, and particularly in the younger grades have taken on one action pack as an entire class. The great thing about SLC is that the resources are highly flexible and customizable to meet your classroom’s needs. Based on past experience, teachers have generally devoted anywhere from 2 – 10 classes to SLC, the average being 5 classes. An Action Pack is a fillable-PDF learning resource that guides students on a journey of reflection, research, action and critical thinking related to a specific social or environmental topic. Action Packs were co-created with teachers and students, and have been used in hundreds of classrooms. There are over 40 Action Packs on topics ranging from plastic pollution and deforestation to climate justice and connecting with nature. The Action Packs are organized into five core Modules: Health, Conscious Consumption, Conservation, Connection, Justice. We have also created Units that draw from Action Packs across the Modules focusing on an important area for exploration, for example, Climate Action or Community Health. 

The Action Packs (see above) within SLC are organized into five Modules: Health, Conscious Consumption, Conservation, Connection, and Justice. Each module focuses on an overall value for sustainability, and includes learning and teaching resources such as lesson plans, a student Worldview Survey, videos, Indigenous wisdom quotes, and other engaging classroom activities. SLC also contains an Innovation Module focused on empowering youth to design and deliver an environmental action project.

Each Further Explorations section, located at the bottom of each ‘Action Pack’ page includes:

  • Careers related to the Action Pack topic
  • A one-page Related Careers worksheet
  • A one-page Current Events worksheet
  • A one-page Stakeholders worksheet
  • A self-evaluation form
  • An exploring interconnectedness activity 

As SLC was being designed and co-created with teachers, BTCEA organized the growing number of Action Packs into the five key Modules (see above). More recently, to provide teachers and students with diverse ways to use SLC, we have created Units that draw on Action Packs from across the Modules that focus on a specific topic or area for exploration. There are four Units: Climate & Connection, Climate Action, Green Careers, and Community Health. For teachers looking to deeply engage their students in a complex topic such as climate change or community health, the Units offer the perfect structured yet flexible approach.
