Our 2018-19 Citizens of the Future (CotF) initiative partners with schools across the Lower Mainland to deliver positive climate action education aimed to shift public perceptions and values leading to reduced environmental impact through individual, school, and community-wide actions and projects. Building on the Climate Action Champions Initiative, CotF will educate, empower, and support underserved youth and emerging youth sustainability leaders to take environmental action.
Through CotF we will:
- Educate and empower youth by providing in-depth Climate Leadership training to students and educators and facilitating interactive workshops with underserved youth
- Motivate students by delivering inspiring environmental action assemblies
- Encourage community engagement and relationship-building by training community volunteers to give climate action presentations and provide mentorship to students
- Track and celebrate accomplishments by showcasing and awarding youth action projects
